Original Vintage Oil Painting – Gail Palmer – Winter Landscape A charming original oil on canvas by Gail Palmer, believed to date from the 1950s. The painting depicts a quiet winter landscape, with a magnificent bare tree standing beside a partially frozen river. Soft golden light stretches across the distant horizon, contrasting beautifully with the muted greys, whites and gentle browns of the snowy countryside. There is a lovely sense of stillness to the scene, particularly in the delicate branches and subtle winter light. Signed Gail Palmer in the lower left corner. Presented in an ornate gilt frame with decorative moulded detailing, believed to be original to the painting. The reverse retains its original label from Cank Street Art Gallery Ltd, 48 Cank Street, Leicester, picture framers and restorers. Measurements 42 × 32 cm, including frame. Medium Original oil on canvas. Age Believed to date from the 1950s. Condition The painting displays signs of age consistent with its vintage character. The decorative gilt frame has damage to three corners, including losses to the moulded decoration, as shown in the photographs. There is also some age-related wear and surface marking. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description. Also available I currently have another original oil painting by Gail Palmer available in my shop, depicting an equine subject. Please browse my other listings if you are interested in the artist's work. A lovely piece of traditional British vintage art, full of winter atmosphere and character.
