Antique Victorian Pink Textured Glass Jug – Late 19th Century An exquisite little piece of Victorian decorative glass, distinguished by its unusual finely textured pink surface, delicate raised enamel flowers and gilded detailing. The lower body has an exceptionally fine granular finish that catches the light with a subtle shimmer, almost like thousands of tiny crystals. Under magnification, the surface appears to consist of minute glass-like particles fused to the exterior, consistent with a very fine overshot or frit-applied glass technique. The upper section is clear glass, with a beautifully formed applied handle. The handle was attached during manufacture, before the pink surface treatment was completed. Delicate floral decoration, raised enamel dots and fine gold detailing provide a lovely contrast against the pink glass. Age & Origin Believed to date from the late Victorian period, approximately 1880–1900. The style and decorative techniques suggest possible Bohemian or Central European manufacture, although the precise glassworks remains unidentified. The jug has been researched with assistance from the Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou, Czech Republic. No definitive factory attribution was established, so it is offered as an unattributed antique glass piece.
