A wonderfully sculptural piece of Swedish mid-century art glass from the celebrated Coquille range, designed by Paul Kedelv for Flygsfors. I picked this piece because the shape is extraordinary. From one angle it appears almost like a traditional glass basket, while from another the sweeping sides create a bold, architectural form. The combination of rich green, opaque white and heavy clear glass makes it particularly striking when it catches the light. The Coquille range is one of the designs most closely associated with Paul Kedelv and Flygsfors. Pieces were created using layers of coloured and opaque glass encased within clear glass, producing the flowing organic forms characteristic of Scandinavian glass design of the period. This example is marked Flygsfors Coquille and dated 64, dating its manufacture to 1964. CONDITION Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or damage. MEASUREMENTS Approx. 23 cm high Approx. 15 cm wide Approx. 19 cm deep MAKER Flygsfors Glasbruk, Sweden Designed by Paul Kedelv Coquille range Dated 1964 A substantial and highly decorative piece of Scandinavian art glass that looks completely different depending on the angle from which it is viewed. It would make a fantastic statement piece on a sideboard, shelving or somewhere where natural light can pass through the green and clear glass. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description. As with all vintage pieces, minor signs of age and previous ownership may be present.
