  • £27.50

:  at  £27.50  each

A beautifully detailed vintage napkin ring from Graham Payne Studios of Worcester, hand painted with a charming British wren amongst foliage and tiny flowers. Dating to 1982, this is a particularly lovely example of the studio’s miniature decorative work. The little wren has been individually painted in warm natural tones against rich greens and soft blues, with gold-coloured borders completing the design. The napkin ring is signed and dated by hand inside, giving us a firm date of 1982 rather than simply an estimated period. Graham Payne Studios of Worcester became known for finely hand-painted enamel pieces, with British birds, wildlife and botanical subjects forming some of their most appealing designs. Their small scale makes the amount of painted detail particularly impressive, and signed examples have become increasingly collectable. The wren is beautifully observed, right down to its characteristic upright tail and delicate feathering. Originally made as an elegant piece of tableware, today it would be equally appealing as a small piece of British wildlife art or as part of a collection of Graham Payne Studios enamel.
