A wonderfully quirky vintage Pickled Onions jar by Toni Raymond Pottery — affectionately known here as Onion Man. Modelled as a rather emotional onion, the jar has a deeply moulded crying face, warm golden-brown glaze and a removable onion-shaped lid finished with a dark green tip. The words “Pickled Onions” are hand-painted around the lid. CONDITION Perfect vintage condition with no chips, cracks or damage. The lid fits correctly. Please examine all photographs as they form part of the description. MEASUREMENTS Height: 16 cm Circumference at widest point: approximately 40 cm The base carries the original Toni Raymond Potteries Ltd, England mark. Toni Raymond pottery was produced by husband-and-wife team Toni and Raymond Smith in Babbacombe, Devon, and became known for its playful hand-painted kitchenware during the 1960s and 1970s. A brilliantly characterful piece of retro British kitchenalia — ideal for storing pickled onions, serving condiments or simply sitting on a shelf looking thoroughly miserable. Vintage items may show minor signs of age and manufacture, which form part of their individual character.
