:  at  £34.00  each

A wonderful piece of British studio pottery by ceramic artist David Seeger, made in 1981 to commemorate the centenary of St Giles’ Church in Bramhope, Yorkshire. The mug celebrates 100 years of St Giles, 1881–1981, and features a beautifully modelled relief view of the church surrounded by trees. The raised decoration is picked out in rich earthy browns, blue-green and almost black tones against a warm speckled glaze. The interior provides a lovely contrast in a deep glossy blue. This is much more interesting than conventional mass-produced commemorative ware. The sculptural decoration, hand-crafted character and connection with recognised ceramic artist David Seeger make it an appealing piece of British studio pottery as well as a piece of Bramhope and Yorkshire local history. The underside is impressed DAVID SEEGER and carries the additional pottery mark and date.
